Betamox LA Injection

Presentation:
BETAMOX L.A. Injection is an off white suspension containing 150 mg/mL amoxycillin (as amoxycillin trihydrate).

Uses:
BETAMOX L.A. Injection is a broad spectrum semi-synthetic penicillin, bactericidal in action. In-vitro it is effective against a wide range of amoxycillin sensitive Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria which include Bacillus anthracis, Bordetella bronchiseptica, Clostridium spp, Corynebacterium spp, Escherichia coli, Fusobacterium spp, Proteus mirabilis, Salmonella spp, Staphylococci (excluding penicillin resistant strains) and Streptococci.

BETAMOX L.A. Injection is suitable for the treatment and control of infections, due to susceptible micro-organisms in dogs and cats where a single injection giving prolonged activity is required. It may also provide relief from secondary bacterial infection in cases where bacteria are not the initial cause of the disease.

Particularly indicated are infections of the:
a) Alimentary tract
b) Respiratory tract
c) Skin and soft tissue
d) Urogenital tract and,
e) In prevention of post-operative infection (treat before surgery)

Dosage & Administration:
SHAKE WELL BEFORE USE.
Administer by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection at
recommended dosage rate of 15 mg per kg bodyweight
(repeatable if necessary after 48 hours), then massage
injection site.
(Dose volume is equivalent to 1.0 mL per 10 kg
bodyweight).

Contraindictions, Warnings etc:
ETAMOX L.A. Injection is contraindicated for use in small herbivores (eg. guinea pigs) or animals with ahistory of allergic reactions to penicillins.
BETAMOX L.A. Injection is not suitable for intravenous administration.

Pharmaceutical Precautions:
Store below 25°C (air-conditioning). Do not freeze. Protect from light.
Use the contents of the vial within 28 days of initial broaching and discard any unused portion.

Disposal:
Dispose of empty container by wrapping with paper and
putting in garbage.
